Our founder, Unathi Pretty Mbengwana, is a globally certified Project Management Professional (PMP), Specialist in Reliability & Compliance, and holds a BTech degree in Electrical Engineering and a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration with a digital innovation focus. She has also completed multiple AI certifications, making her an expert in applying AI and digital solutions to solve real-world engineering and business challenges.
Unathi is recognised as one of South Africa's Top 20 Young Engineers (Water Research Commission Young Engineers Changemakers Programme, YECP 2025) and was awarded Outstanding Candidate in Water & Sanitation (Women in the Built Environment – WITBE, 2024). She is actively involved in African Women in AI, and is passionate about digital transformation, constantly seeking innovative ways to improve systems and businesses using technology-driven solutions.

New Innovations Consulting and Projects – NICP (Pty) Ltd is a woman-led, multi-disciplinary engineering and consulting firm founded by Unathi Pretty Mbengwana, a globally certified Project Management Professional (PMP), Specialist in Reliability & Compliance, and multiple recognized award-winning engineer.
With over a decade of experience managing engineering projects, long-term maintenance contracts, and digital transformation initiatives, she blends technical engineering expertise with business strategy to deliver practical, future-focused solutions. She holds a BTech degree in Electrical Engineering, a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration with a digital innovation focus, and multiple Artificial Intelligence (AI) certifications, giving her deep insight into both industry-specific needs and the global shift toward AI and digitalisation.
Unathi has received national recognition for her leadership and innovation, including being named one of South Africa's Top 20 Young Engineers in the 2025 Water Research Commission Young Engineers Changemakers Programme, and receiving the Outstanding Candidate in Water & Sanitation Award in the 2024 Women in the Built Environment (WITBE) programme.
